We are offering various pottery workshops this year at our garden studio in Sutton Benger, near Chippenham, Wiltshire. These are for 1 or 2 people and you will have personal tuition to develop your skills. Courses include refreshments, either a light lunch or tea and cake depending on the timings of the course. We can cater for most food requirements, just let us know when you book. All materials are included (clay, tools, aprons etc), however, please wear clothing you do not mind getting a bit of clay on, pottery can be a bit messy!
Nearest train station is Chippenham, a taxi from there is about £10-£15.
If driving, we have plenty of parking space.

Throwing No 1 – Taster session
For 2 people, 3 hours for people with no, or very little throwing experience.
Price is £200 including all materials and refreshments.
For 1 person, 3 hours and is priced at £125 including all materials and refreshments.
This first session will get you centering the clay, opening it up and lifting the walls to make basic mug shapes. You can choose to keep up to 2 pieces which I will finish and post to you when fired. You can select the glaze from our range of in-house finishes.
Throwing No 2- Improver session
For 2 people, 3 hours. Tutored practice to help develop your throwing skills, this follows on from a taster session.
Price is £200 including all materials and refreshments.
For 1 person is for 3 hours and is £125 including all materials and refreshments.
This session will continue with developing your basic throwing skills and aim to get you throwing mugs and bowls. As with the taster session you can choose up to 2 pieces that will be finished off and posted when the glaze firing has completed.
Hand-building No 1
For 2 people, 3 hours. Try pinch pots, slab building and coiling.
Price is £200 including all materials and refreshments.
For 1 person is for 3 hours and is £150 including all materials and refreshments.
Hand-building No 2
For 2 people, 3 hours. Concentrating on a single hand building technique to advance your skills.
Price is £200 including all materials and refreshments.
For 1 person is for 3 hours and is £150 including all materials and refreshments.
Raku Firing
Experience the heat and excitement of Raku. You can fire either a piece from a previous workshop or pick a vessel from our stock. Add glaze and oxides then you will fire the work in our gas kiln and when it has reached 1000 degrees C, you will pick it out with tongs and place it in the reduction pit which is filled with saw dust and news paper. After about 30 minutes it is taken out, cooled in water and then cleaned to reveal the finished surface.
All safety equipment is provided. Please wear clothing that you don’t mind getting a bit sweaty and you will smell of wood smoke by the end of the day!
Price is per person @ £130 and the day runs from 10:00 to 16:00 including refreshments.
We can accommodate up to 4 people per session.
Taster Session Gift Experiences
We can provide either of the throwing or hand building courses as pre-paid gifts. Just get in touch to order. The recipient can then arrange a date. We are flexible on times of day and can do some weekends.
We can also offer throwing taster session lasting 1.5 hours at £45. This does not include me finishing or firing any pieces. If you want to get a piece trimmed, glazed and fired then it is an extra £10 per pot.
